Casey Anthony Acquittal and Free From Jail Sunday
The Florida trial of Casey Anthony ended last week with her acquittal of the murder of little Caylee Anthony based upon the jury’s finding of “reasonable doubt.” You can find my opinion piece about the decision by clicking on my Helium writer link.
Casey was accompanied by her defense attorney Jose Baez as she left the jail Sunday morning. There has been a lot of speculation as to where she will go and what she will do. One thing is certain, that she will probably be faced with many civil suits by the child-search organizations and those who provided her security in light of the fact that the defense claimed Casey knew the child died by accident in the swimming pool back on June 16, 2008.
If, in fact, Casey Anthony did not murder her little 2-year-old daughter, then law enforcement in Florida and Casey Anthony along with her family should be seeking the true killer or killers. We still do not know the child’s biological father, who George and Cindy say had the last name of Baker as testified to during the trial.
Like O.J. Simpson, Casey Anthony will have many appearances now with the media, a book or movie deal in the works, as well as a lot of unanswered questions. The lead prosecutor in this trial has now retired after serving Florida faithfully for over 30 years. The meter-reader who found the body near the Anthony home, Roy Kronk, left the employ of the County and is suing others for slander.
We would all do well to read Jaycee Dugard’s new book (she is the young girl who was abducted for 18 years and appeared on ABC), to learn how even in tragedy, grace, humor and inner strength can be found in order to help others.
